This free monthly hangout is designed for teens and led by Miss Shayna (Artist & Prevention Education Specialist at DVSSP).

No pressure. No experience needed. Just come create, connect, and unwind.

Mon Valley Academy for the Arts (MVAA) invites teens from across the region to attend its upcoming Crafty Conversations session on April 8 from 6:00–7:00 PM at its Brownsville location.

Held on the second Wednesday of each month, Crafty Conversations offers a welcoming, creative space for young people to gather, express themselves, and build connections through art. The April session will focus on watercolor illustration, where participants will explore a unique blotting technique and develop imaginative images from abstract forms.

The program is facilitated by Miss Shayna, an artist and Prevention Education Specialist with Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania (DVSSP), and is designed to encourage creativity, conversation, and personal expression in a supportive environment.

“This program is about more than art—it’s about creating a space where young people feel comfortable showing up as they are,” said Annette Buffer, President of Mon Valley Academy for the Arts. “We invite teens to join us, try something new, and be part of a creative community.”

Crafty Conversations is free to attend and open to teens of all skill levels.
